Day 72/97 - Wednesday (2010-11-03)

20:37 The housemates have been playing the pantomime game for a while as Eetu returns from the confession room. He says something is coming up soon. The housemates are expecting to get a video greeting from Niko. Instead, they get another task:
bigbrother.fi kirjoitti: Evening task: The Test of Finnishness

If she so wants, our guest, Sandra, will be eligible to join an ancient Finnish tradition, The Test of Finnishness.

As every Finn knows, the holy spirit of Finnishness fills a man when he rises up from a cold spring.

The icy water will cast away all waste matter that disturbs life. This rite of purification will join Sandra to the holy tribe of Finnishness.

Put on your swimming gear and wear the bathrobes, beanie hats and shoes you will find on the patio table outside. Once Big Brother so orders, go to the task area.

Do act with all the dignity the task demands.
The housemates translate this to Sandra. Nino is guffawing again. Sandra says she doesn't even go to sea when it's under 27 degrees. It's so cold. Eetu is trying to scare her by saying the descent in the icy water will be like a trip to hell. Jani corrects him by saying it will just do good, and a quick dip is enough. Sandra panics; thinks she's going to die.

20:53 Marika comes from the confession room. She tells the housemates there will be a path on the task area. The housemates will need to go stand on the sides of that path. Sandra will walk the path to the icy cold water first. If she passes the test, she will be a member of the Holy Finnishness. There will also be a table by the water tank, containing "powerful drinks". You can only get one if you pass the test. There's also a non-alcoholic version for Elli-Maija, who doesn't drink alcohol.

20:54 Elisa thinks there will be a pool of icy water, or something. Sandra asks what should she do if she gets a heart attack while in the water. Nino guffaws. Petri shows how he would give her CPR. Eetu: "David Hasselhoff!"

20:56 Sandra asks if everyone has done this. They tell her Jani practices the sport. Not everyone is particularly fond of it, though.

20:57 The shades rise and the housemates are let outside where they find new bathrobes which they are to wear during the task.

21:02 The housemates walk from the yard to the special entrance tunnel that leads to the task area. Petri and Eetu start Rocky Balbone style preparations in their hooded robes, hitting the air with their fists.

21:03 When the housemates are at the end of the tunnel, mysterious music starts playing. They open the doors to the task area.

"Oh my god!" "Wow! This is hell!"

Kuva

The task area is dark, lit by little fires. They find a path leading to the middle of the area where there is a tall, plank-covered water tank with ladders both outside and inside for entering it and exiting it.

The tank, full of ice-cold water, is surrounded by four vertical log fires, with big flames shooting out of them. It looks like a set from Fear Factor. There's also a table by the water tank containing the "powerful drinks", which turn out to be black salmiac vodka in shot glasses.

21:04 Sandra is preparing for the task, almost tears in her eyes. The others are cheering her up: it's not as bad as it looks like. Sandra starts walking the path towards the water tank. once standing before it, she hands her bathrobe and microphone to Petri. Then she steps up the ladder and dips her toe into the water and flinches.

Kuva

Kuva

After that, she collects herself... and descends into the tank, getting her body fully immersed in the ice cold water at least neck down. (Good job, Sandra! You're one brave trooper.) She gets out immediately and the housemates cheer at her, helping her bathrobe back on. Sandra comments she's now feeling a warm rush, just like Jani told she would.

Kuva

Then the other housemates take turns in dipping into the tank as well. Some of them stay longer and act calmer than the others. Nino seems to be most afraid of the thing, but manages to do it as well.

21:13 Everyone has dipped into the tank and come out of it with steam rising from their skin. Now it's time to cheer and drink the shots.

Kuva

Big Brother announces that the sauna is ready for them. The housemates leave the task area.

21:19 Sandra notes she's a Finn now. They teach her to say "I'm Finnish" in Finnish: "Olen suomalainen!" Petri thinks they're going to get their dinner after the sauna.

21:23 Many of the housemates are in the sauna, Sandra joins them too after getting a beer from inside the house. They're still wearing the silly hats and gloves and all as the "Fake Finland" task is still on.

21:24 Nino is laughing about Elisabet's stomach. She's gained some weight in the house and thinks her belly is now horrible, as if she was pregnant. She asks if Nino will be the godfather if it's actually a baby. Elisabet says the baby would be named Michael Joseph if it's a boy, but "Billie Jean" if it's a girl. They have an argument about this with Nino, whow wouldn't let Elisabet name her son "Michael".

21:28 Everybody is in the sauna. Sandra is glowing and says she would never have imagined she would get this kind of experience and is amazed how interesting a country Finland is, and she also gives generous compliments on all her Finnsh housemates. She says she might sound phony as she says everything is "good" and "great" but this far everything has been. Nino also wants the others to translate to Sandra that this week has been the greatest week in the Big Brother house for him of all the ten weeks he has spent there.

21:47 Some of the housemates have already returned inside the house, queuing up for the shower in the bathroom. They get an announcement on the TV screen that says prizes will be awarded for husband carrying competition a bit later.

22:03 Nino and Elisabet and checking up on Noora's condition. Noora tells them she still can't eat, will just throw up everything. Nino thinks she didn't get enough sleep last night. Nino wonders if Noora knew in the morning she would get this. She ate something back then. Noora says it came all of a sudden.

Nino says he's would be never going to drink again if he got a hang-over like that. He's so afraid of vomiting. When they had an "office work" task a couple of weeks ago, they had a party with alcohol. The next day on their way to "work" he had to throw up in the yard. It was strange. He usually never does that and just had to wonder what is going on.

Noora can't get it, she says she didn't even drink that much, compared to the outside world. And she ate during the night too. Jani thinks she might have gotten dirty water in her glass while in the jacuzzi and got something from that. They all finally agree this is the most likely reason.

22:28 The prizes from the husband carrying task are being awarded on the TV screen. Elisabet and Jani had the best time, Sandra and Petri the best style. Congratulations to the winners. The storage room opens and the winners get sparkling wine and strawberries on a tray. Jebou! Sandra warns the other winners you'll get easily drunk from this.

22:44 Sandra, Elisabet, Petri and Nino are in the smoking area. Nino asks the others to explain about his last stint in Big Brother, in 2009. He was a normal, unknown guy when he entered the house... and when he came out, everyone on the street suddenly knew him. Sandra asked how many days Nino spent in the house the last time and why was he evicted. They tell her he spent 36 days in the house, but they aren't sure how they could explain the reason for his ejection with their less-than-perfect English... so they resort to saying he broke a rule and was ejected. Sandra wants to confirm Nino wasn't evicted but ejected? The housemates tell her that's how it was. Sandra thinks it must have been though.

22:47 Nino wants the others to tell Sandra one more thing: he was the most surprised about how positive feedback he got. He had thought everyone would hate him. But the trouble of having a small celebrity status is that you can't do much anything in the bars and night clubs without finding a story about it in the yellow press.

23:20 Petri, Sandra, Elli-Maija and some others are lying on the sofas, having a discussion. He tells Sandra how he's going to disappear from the public view after Big Brother. They tell Sandra the housemates from the earlier seasons have already "disappeared" and mostly forgotten if they have just continued their normal life. If you don't do anything stupid and don't have any desire to stay in the limelight, people will soon forget you. Petri says he's sure he's not going to be someone who the magazines would write about. Sandra says it's the same for some former housemates in Slovenia.

23:27 The dinner is soon going to be ready. Jani has been taking the role of a chef tonight. Sandra, Petri, Elisa and Nino bring the wine bottles to the table and open them. Elli-Maija is sitting at the table too. Sandra sings a bit and Petri compliments her by saying he's never heard a singer like her. Nino laughs at Petri's confession - Petri had earlier got tears in her eyes from Sandra's singing - but Petri says it's true, she's really good. Elisabet agrees with Petri.

23:29 Elli-Maija tells Nino she's feeling really home-sick but can't give up even though she would really want to.

23:30 Sandra, Petri and Elisabet go out for smokes. Petri noted the shared cigarette container is almost empty. They find Eetu sitting on the jacuzzi cover. He says he just wanted some fresh air. Sandra is singing again.

23:32 Petri says he'll take Sandra to a karaoke bar when she comes to Finland again. Sandra asked the price level of hotels in Finland but Elisabet said if she comes to Finland she wants Sandra to stay at her place. She lives together with her brother. Two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen. Sandra can even bring her dog if she wants to. Sandra is thanking her for the offer.

23:37 Petri and Elisabet are telling about their family. Petri lives in Kuopio which is four hours away from Helsinki by car. His things are stored at his parent's at the moment because he broke up with his girlfriend who kept the house. He isn't too close with his siblings. Elisa is really close with her twin brother, and also regularly sees the other brother who lives with their mother. She hasn't seen her father in a year. Sandra tells she's close to her cousins. She doesn't have any siblings although she would have liked to have.

23:40 They all return inside the house. Eetu tells Sandra about the eviction show on Sunday night when Sandra arrived in the Big Brother Finland house. Susanna (the Finnish hostess of the Big Brother Talk Show) had asked him about his hopes for the exchange housemate. They had all thought they would get a male exchange housemate in exchange for Niko. Despite this, Eetu had said "No matter the looks as long as it's a girl!" They had then heard the audience applauding wildly in the studio and were then sure it's going to be a girl.

Eetu and Petri had both originally thought the exchange would have been with Brazil. But they were then really happy when Sandra walked in. She was so beautiful they instantly got good vibes from her. Sandra thanks Eetu for the compliment.

23:46 Eetu also tells Sandra his mother had said he'll no longer have a home to come back to if he goes on Big Brother. He isn't quite sure what she's thinking now. Sandra asked him about his father. Eetu says his father will surely be watching the show and and cheering for him. When he left, he had said he loves him and told him not to do anything he'll regret later.

23:50 It's Sandra's turn. She says her father naturally wasn't too enthusiastic about her going on the show because he's a public figure in politics. He had nonetheless given his blessing by saying it's Sandra's own life, no-one elses to control, and of course she'll do what she wants to do with it. Her mother had been crying. She can't really even remember the situation properly. Her last words were something like she can't believe they'll only see each other after such a long time.

23:53 That was back at home, but she saw her parents the last time in the studio. Her father had been handed the microphone because he's famous in the country and he was asked to describe Sandra for the audience. He had told them she's intelligent, wonderful and the most beautiful girl in the world. Sandra started crying when she heard this description and the hostess asked if she's already crying before she has even entered the house yet. Sandra had said she's crying because of the nice things her father said.

23:55 Eetu asked Marika to tell Sandra that he doesn't want to keep up at nights thinking about matters that he can't help, that are out of his hands. He wants to live in the moment without worrying about the outside world. Marika gave Eetu a hug and said that was great thinking. Sandra agreed with her after a translation.

23:57 Noora has got up from the bed and sitting at the table. She is looking drowsy. Elisabet is telling Sandra about Nino's mother who had to pop nitros when she saw Nino in the magazines and on TV.

23:59 Sandra says she is going to arrange a big surprise for them if (when) they're going to come to Slovenia. She's not going to reveal what it is yet, but she has gotten so much from this trip she wants to arrange something for them as well.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

0:22 The "dinner" is finally ready. While queuing for the food, Sandra is telling the others about some of the most watched videos on YouTube. The housemates hadn't seen this one, but some of them had seen this. Sandra thinks they're so funny.

0:24 Everyone is sitting at the table. The "Finnish" utensil-clinking ritual and "Ruokaa, juomaa, meille tuokaa!" chant follows.

Sandra is wondering about the red potato mash. The housemates tell her that's customary for a polar bear dish; the potato mash is mixed with some of the bear's blood.

0:40 Most of the housemates have finished eating. Petri says this was a truly great dinner - if not even the best in the house. The others agree with him. Marika and Eetu both say this week has been really great in other ways too.

Sandra, Elisabet and Petri go outside for smokes. The girls are singing Elton John's "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" and "Hakuna Matata". Elisabet only knows the Finnish lyrics for the latter. They then begin reminiscing the characters in "Lion King".

0:43 Sandra, Elisabet, and Petri are planning to rearrange their sleeping places. Petri says he woke up several times last night; he can't really sleep that close to the others. He suggests Sandra and Elisabet could sleep next to each other and he would sleep between Marika and Elisa. Elisabet says there's one free place on the side where Noora is sleeping, Petri could sleep there. Petri doesn't want to sleep there as Noora is ill. Elisabet has some doubts about this reasoning; she seems to think Petri has something else on his mind. Sandra says she would like to sleep in the middle somewhere too, not at the edge.

They're all still in the smoking area. Elisa tells the others her pillow has gone missing; she doesn't know where it is. Sandra is amused about this, how could such a big thing just suddenly go missing.

0:46 The smokers are back inside the house. Petri suggests to Elisabet he could sleep at the right edge of the row of beds. Last morning he woke up cheek to cheek with Sandra and was like "Okay!" All three join the others at the dining table. Elisabet is having some more wine, Nino suggests she should stop drinking for the night and go to bed so that she won't start doing something stupid.

0:48 Elisabet denies being drunk. She even explains this to Sandra. Then she starts telling Sandra about the "corn incident" that had happened in the BBF house weeks ago, during one of the parties. Petri had been teasing her in the jacuzzi and pulled her bikini bottom down, revealing her ass for the whole Finland to see. When she had already got it back up again and climbed out of the jacuzzi, Nino was hollering at her that the whole Finland now saw her ass. She got really mad, took a grilled corn cob out of Petri's hands (Petri was eating it in the jacuzzi at the time and leaning his back to the side of the pool) and threw Petri with the corn cob with some good force at the back of his neck, leaving a red mark. Sandra inquires why did she do that. Elisabet just laughs and says she was so wasted she can't even remember anything about it. Sandra looks at Elisabet with a quizzical look in her eyes.

Elisabet: It was so close that I don't left the building. Hehehehee! (Big Brother had told Elisabet that she could have been ejected for that.)

0:49 Sandra is called to the confession room. Elisabet, who has been waiting for a call to there for the entire day (just like yesterday) says "I wouldn't have wanted to go, anyway."

0:58 Sandra is back from the confession room with the camera phone. She needs to make some video diary notes again, shooting herself explaining what she has been doing today - for example, dipping in the ice cold water and eating polar bear. She shoots the clips on the floor area in front of the sofas. The other housemates on the sofas try to keep quiet so they don't bother her.

1:04 Petri farted in the middle of Sandra shooting a video. Elisabet couldn't keep a straight face but giggled. (Farting is considered a good thing in "Fake Finland"; only dishonest people who have something to hide suppress their farts.) Elisabet is still laughing. Petri and Nino start teasing her for her drunken expressions: eye-lids half-closed etc. They're both a bit irritated that she just keeps on drinking tonight. Nino says Elisabet is one of those girls who have their face all red from the bottom of their nose to their upper lip when they drink red wine. Elisabet giggles and denies being anything like that. Petri adds soon she's going to whine for BB to play some Michael Jackson and wants to make a call to Peter, her brother. And then she'll just keep gawking at them with her mouth half open. Elisabet says she's not even drunk. Just a little tipsy.

1:07 Sandra visited the confession room once again to return the phone there. Petri suggests they could go to bed now. Elisabet doesn't want to. Petri says Elisabet can sure stay up; there's half a bottle of that wine left. Nino adds that his glass is there on the table, already poured full; Elisabet can take that too. Elisabet can't get what their problem is. She's just relaxing a bit. Nino says he's ashamed of Elisabet. Elisabet can't get why should he be ashamed. Nino says Elisabet is now being so very Elisabet. Elisabet is wondering what the hell she should be if not Elisabet, and cracks a hard-to-translate pun about this. (All the housemates on the sofas start laughing at it.) Nino guffaws and pretends to be Elisabet, swaying on the sofa all drunk with a wine glass in her hand. "That's some Finnish drinking culture for you!" Nino says to no-one in particular.

1:09 Elisabet explains to Sandra (in English) that the others are afraid and ashamed of her when she's drunk. And now she's not, she's just tipsy. Sandra, Elisabet, Petri, Marika, and Jani go out for smokes. They're soon going to go to bed. Sandra is reading aloud the Finnish language health warning on the side of the cigarette box. ("Smoking will seriously harm...")

1:14 Petri and Sandra are now in the bedroom. Petri thinks they're going to get a party tomorrow (Thursday) night. It would be logical as Sandra needs to leave on Saturday morning and it would be inconvenient for her to have to stay up late on the previous night. They go to the bathroom to brush their teeth. Eetu and Elli-Maija are there too.

1:19 Nino is lying on one of the sofas and Marika sitting on the floor in front of it, leaning to it, with a glass of wine in her hand. Marika explains she doesn't necessarily need alcohol to get into party mood.

Nino: You musn't drink too much. You'll become an alcoholic. And what would we then do? Heh!
Marika: You shouldn't become an alcoholic, that's the key.

The lights have dimmed and Marika and Nino both go to the bedroom. Elisabet wants to drink wine from Marika's glass but Marika doesn't let her have all of it, even though she would have wanted to. Marika gets her glass back and goes sitting on the bed, still with the glass in her hand. Sandra laughs at this sight and comments on her style.

1:21 Elisabet is now singing all by herself, loudly. She jumps on Nino, lies down on top of him, and continues singing. Soon Petri walks by and Nino crawls from under Elisabet and gets up wanting to see if Petri has a bulge in his shorts; he thought he saw one. Petri covers himself with a blanket, laughing, Nino is trying to pull it off. Petri shouts this is sexual harassment (Nino is gay), and Nino gives up.

1:23 Sandra lies down next to Petri. They're on the same bed as yesterday, just switched sides. "Finlandia", the lullaby of "Fake Finland" starts playing on the house PA system again. Marika is quite drunk now and shouts they want more volume, swaying the glass of wine in the air. The other housemates tell her to shut up and listen to the song.

1:24 Elisabet enters the bedroom, laughing.

Petri: Hell no, Elisabet, hell no! You're not drinking that straight from the bottle. Nino, Elisabet is drinking straight from the bottle.

Nino wakes up to the situation. At the same moment Elisabet pours Marika another glass. Nino is yelling they need to take the bottle away at once. Marika is irritating him on purpose now; he's soon going to be very mad at them both. Both red-heads are just clinking their glasses and laughing. Eventually they decide they should do what Nino requested. One clink more and the bottle is taken to the top of the drawers.

1:27 Marika dashes to the other side of the room and jumps to hug Eetu. Elisa does a similar hug-attack but with Nino as her target. Nino is shouting he's too old for this kind of thing, somebody help. Elisabet is relentless and Nino is now tickling her, trying to get her off him. Elisabet giggles and starts coughing. Sandra seizes the moment and goes to hug both Marika and Eetu. Eetu even got a kiss on his cheek from her.

1:28 Nino is still angry about the bottle of red wine. Marika is reciting him the "False Finland" cultural "fact": Finns like to drink modestly and hug a lot. Elisabet switches targets and hug-attacks Eetu now, then gets another cough attack and remains lying on Eetu, with her head on his shoulder. Marika moves on to Nino, then hugs PEtri. Sandra also hugs Nino before returning to her place.

1:29 Nino is wondering what's going on with Elisabet. She was just lying beside Eetu and then started twitching. She's still coughing. The others just laugh at her erratic behavior.

1:31 Eetu notices something on Elisabet's shirt and Elisabet gets another fit. "What's that! Take it off! Take it off!" Elisabet crawls between Elli-Maija and Noora and asks them to take it off. Turns out it was just a piece of flint or a hair or something. Nino is sighing and says it truly seems someone has drank "a couple of glasses" of wine.

1:32 Nino asks Elisabet where she's going to sleep.

Elisabet: Right there, beside you.
Nino: Hell no, Elisabet.

Nino moves on the other side of the room, in the free space between Elli-Maija and Noora, placing some random pillow on Jani's place.

Petri: That's my pillow.
Nino: Could be the pillow of Jesus H. Christ himself for all I care. Don't make a number out of this. Hey, Elisabet, why did you go there on Eetu's shoulder?
Elisabet: I'm just lying here for a moment. Every house needs its very own little 'holic.
Eetu: Not really a "little" 'holic at all.

The others burst into laughter.

1:34 "Finlandia" is over.

Sandra: "Elisabet. Huoneeseen!" ("Elisabet! In the room!" Sandra has learned this phrase from the Finnish Big Brother confession room calls. The actual calls have a bit longer and more polite form, though.)

Elisabet tries to find her way to the other side of the room and almost falls down flat on her face in the space between the two rows of beds, but manages to avoid that fate and is now sitting beside Sandra on the bed.

1:36

Sandra: "Are you okay?"
Elisabet: "Yeah. I'm just tired."

Marika is giggling to Sandra in English that Elisabet is all wasted.

1:37 Elisabet leaves them and goes standing in front of Nino's bed, demanding to know why Nino doesn't want to sleep next to Jani. "Why don't you want to sleep next to Jani? Why don't you want to sleep next to Jani? Why don't you..."
"Stop bothering me now, will you!" Nino barks to her.
Elisa returns to her place.

Meanwhile, Elli-Maija has started riding on Eetu, like on a horse. There's a blanket between them, though. The others say that doesn't really look like something a "brother" and a "sister" would do. Nino thinks Eetu's mother is proud of her son again. Elli-Maija keeps on riding and Elisa says she's never done anything like that with her brother. And Niko is like a brother to her too and she couldn't imagine doing that with him.

1:42 Sandra comes back from the bathroom and begins singing "Pump It Up" with Marika. She also announces that Jani is in the bathroom brushing his teeth and joins them in a minute. Elisabet goes to hug-wrestle with Eetu again but gets defeated this time, too.

1:49 Elisabet has moved between Marika and Sandra. Jani finally arrives from the bathroom. Sandra is sad about there being only two full days left of her visit.

2:02 The lights are now off and everyone is finally lying on their place.

2:03 Except Sandra who visits the bathroom. Petri crawls on Elisabet and keeps repeating his nickname, "Maza", at her face. (Don't ask.)

2:11 The housemates are still talking about tomorrow. They went through the menu. They know they're going to get pizza, at least.

Sandra asks Petri to sing something for the night. Petri tries to explain he's too tired, and the others will want to sleep.

Sandra: Just sing. It's two minutes.
Elisabet: "Mökkitie" (One of Petri's favorite Finnish songs)

Petri sings the chorus, then stops.

Sandra: Is the end?
Petri: Yeah.
Sandra: Thank you.
Petri: Tomorrow we gonna sing more.
Sandra: OK.

2:15 Petri is having some problems with his ergonomic pillow: it's too hard. He has been discussing about this with Sandra a moment ago and saying he gets pain in his neck from it. He turns to Sandra and says "Try how hard it is."

The others start shouting "Maza!" to him and laughing and giggling. Petri tries to explain he meant the pillow but nobody listens to him. Nino asks them to calm down now and sleep.

The bedroom is all silent, but soon Petri starts snickering. Sandra asks him what's so funny. Between bursts of laughter Petri repeats his own words: "Try how hard it is!", then buries his face into the pillow trying to muffle his laugh.

2:19 Petri asks Sandra to sing the Croatian song once again. Sandra tried but then said it doesn't work when she's lying on her back. Marika and Elisabet start humming it and Sandra compliments them on the good job.

Marika: Mazaaa!
Nino: Marika, go to sleep now.

2:20 Marika sits up and starts babbling something to Sandra in English.

Nino is starting to get angry: "Marika, get real!? I want to sleep!"

Marika finally believes Nino. But Elisabet, Sandra and Petri still continue quiet talking in their corner. Elisabet asks Petri to bring her some water.

2:22 Petri is still having a problem. He asks if Sandra could massage his temples. Sandra agrees to this request and does it for the next ten minutes.

2:31 The massage is over and everyone is now sleeping.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

5:41 Elli-Maija leaves her bed and goes to bathroom. In the bathroom, she is sitting on the edge of the raised area of the floor near the bathtub, holding her hands to her stomach and occasionally sighing or breathing heavily.

5:46 Elli-Maija gets up, dashes to kitchen, draws some water from the tap into a large cup, drinks from it and returns to the bathroom. This time, she kneels down in front of the toilet seat. It is obvious she wants to induce a vomiting reflex.

5:47 Elli-Maija is now actively trying to puke. She drinks some more water, gulps loudly and tries some more.

5:50 Elli-Maija is vomiting with sound effects. She gets up, draws some more water from the tap in the bathroom, drinks it, returns to the kneeling position in front of the toilet seat and tries again.

5:51 Drinking water once again, spitting into the toilet bowl, more water from the tap. She's trying hard but apparently not getting the expected results.

5:55 It seems Elli-Maija gives up. She gets up and goes in front of the bathroom sink to brush her teeth.

5:56 Oh no, she didn't. There she is again, sitting on the floor next to the bathtub and sighing.

5:59 She finally gives up and returns to bed.

6:25 Eetu wakes up momentarily, raises his head from the pillow and looks at Elli-Maija who's sleeping next to him on the same row of beds. He asks a question with a sleepy voice (it's hard to hear what it actually was) and Elli-Maija answers with a "Yes." Eetu mutters something, strokes Elli-Maija's hair, moves a bit closer to her, then sleeps again.

6:33 Elli-Maija sits up in the bedroom, takes her microphone with her and goes to bathroom again. Once again, she's kneeling in front of the toilet seat, drinking water and hoping for a puke.

6:37 Well now we're getting somewhere. She's puking her guts out. Must be all empty now.

6:39 Elli-Maija doesn't seem to agree. She's still drinking some more water and sitting in front of the bathtub, on the raised section of floor.

6:41 Sandra gets up, comes to kitchen to drink some water, heads to bathroom. At the door to there, she meets Elli-Maija, who is going to bed again. Sandra seems a bit startled, maybe she didn't expect anyone to be there. They exchange a few words while they pass each other but it is not clear if Sandra ever got to know Elli-Maija had been vomiting.

6:43 Sandra returns from the bathroom and lies down between Elisabet and Petri. Before going back to bed she removes the hoodie she's been using this night. (Before they went to sleep, Petri asked her is she not goint to remove it. She said she thinks she might be feeling cold during the night so she rather sleeps with the hoodie on. She was offered an extra blanket but didn't want it.)

I fully agree. This task was very unfair towards Sandra. :? Nobody wants to be made a fool of  and unfortunately they did a good job of it!!! There could have been other ways for the BB team to teach her about Finland!!!!!

That was her initial reaction. Thankfully, she seems to have got over with the worst now and is cheerful and laughing again. :thumbsup The housemates are actually waiting for a big party now.

But of course, the "Fake Finland" task being revealed to her tonight (Thursday night) all of a sudden came as a huge shock, and she was gravely disappointed by the fact that the weird and mythical "Finland" she had already learned to love does not actually exist.

The poor thing; she was crying in the bathroom for a good while. The housemates also felt really shitty over doing this to her.

Just how dumb is she after all? Niko is no genius by any measure but he has no illusions about the lies he's been fed with. Wasn't Sandra planning their lies last week with the other Slovenians?

No she wasn't. She and the other housmates didn't even know about the swap. Sandra was fake evicted before she came to Finland.

The fact that the Finnish housemates planned their lies beforehand last week is an advantage for Niko in regards to realizing these lies the Slovenian housmates are trying to feed him. Sandra, on the other hand, had no idea of the possibility that the Finnish housemates might lie to her.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

9:54 The house is still asleep. Eetu and Elli-Maija are sleeping next to each other but with their backs turned to each other. Sandra and Petri sleep the same way.

10:00 Wakey-wakey!

10:20 Jani, Petri and Elisabet are having their morning smokes in the smoking area. They're pondering about the possibility Sandra might not actually be from Slovenia. That would be some twist! Jani is amused by this speculation. Petri thinks Sandra at least looks like someone who could be from that part of Europe. Elisabet adds she speaks the language, too.

10:23 The smokers return to the living room. Nino is sitting on the sofa with a coffee mug in his hand, his hair still ruffled from sleeping. Petri tells Nino he always looks so good at this hour, like a sunshine! He then goes to get some coffee for himself and sits on one of the sofas. He's wondering aloud whether Sandra would know anything about inline hockey. Petri knows Slovenia is pretty good at the sport.

The girls are currently occupying the bathroom.

10:30 The housemates have been going through their menu for this week. They find it amusing: Big Brother originally asked them to list, in advance, all the dishes they would be wanting to serve to the exchange housemate - with the idea of presenting them as "traditional Finnish", of course. During the exchange week, they have been delivered everything they requested.

The discussion switches to snoring at night. Eetu says at least Elli-Maija has been snoring. Nino says he's been snoring as well. Elli-Maija is giving a dirty look at Eetu. "what?" asks Eetu but doesn't get an answer. Elisabet asks what has Eetu done wrong this time. Petri suspects it's one of his little "special things". Nino guffaws.

Nino asks Elli-Maija if she puked last night. "Yeah", admits Elli-Maija. She says she sometimes gets a need to vomit without a particular reason; she just wakes up at night and is feeling sick.

10:35 Big Brother calls Elli-Maija to the confession room. "What's her problem?" asks Eetu. "Some people are just a bit sensitive," says Nino. Eetu can't believe it would be about him mentioning that snoring thing.

Eetu goes out to the yard.

11:00 Elli-Maija is back from the diary room. She warns the others she's in a fairly pissed-off mood. She has had a lousy night, she's still feeling sick in the stomach and at the moment, the mere sight of Eetu's face is really getting on her nerves. She says Eetu had opened his big mouth at the wrong time.

11:03 Eetu and Marika are sitting on the jacuzzi cover. Marika says it's hard to come up with detailed answers about various fake things when Sandra keeps asking for more information. Semi-jokingly, they speculate that maybe Sandra knows about it already; she could even be an actor who understands Finnish as well. Maybe the Finnish housemates are the ones who are being fooled here. Then again, Marika is sure Sandra is genuine. At least she doesn't know any Finnish.

Both Eetu and Marika think yesterday was a nice day, the water tank "Finnishness test", sauna and the meal. They would have liked to have ice floating on top of the water for added atmosphere.

11:22 Marika made a suggestion they would put some Slovenian candy, chocoloate or bisquits on the breakfast table as well, to honor their guest. (When Sandra arrived, she brought some of those with her, and in "Fake Finland", Finns eat sweet things for a breakfast.) The other housemates agree it is a good idea.

11:36 Sandra and Petri are sitting on the benches in the smoking area. Jani joins them, giving a compliment on Sandra's fuchsia red sweater: "Nice color!"

11:46 The housemates are washing dishes and vacuum-cleaning the house.

11:50 Everyone sits at the "traditional Finnish breakfast table". They do the utensil-clinking and chanting and start enjoying their sweet breakfast, which consists of waffles, ice-cream, whipped cream, jam, cakes, candy, bisquits, soda, Swiss roll etc.

Nino believes they're going to gain 10 kilos per week at this rate. Eetu is also horrified about what kind of calorie bombs they have had to eat each morning this week. (They're discussing in Finnish, of course, so Sandra doesn't know what they're saying.) Sandra has loaded her plate with waffles and ice-cream. Eetu says he can't take this much longer.

Sandra: "You know, first day I thought you don't have any food left so you have to eat..."
Someone of the girls: "No."
Sandra: (defeated) "First day..."

12:15 The sickly-sweet breakfast is over. Sandra, Jani and Petri are in smoking area. Sandra begins singing the Finnish song "Dirlandaa". Sandra has a discussion with Jani about music, dancing, and night clubs in Finland. Jani says they don't necessarily always leave the house for a night out with friends, they might just as well cook something nice and play cards or arrange a sauna party.

12:24 Sandra has returned inside and is now sitting on a chair in the middle of the bathroom. Elisabet is doing her hair.

12:33 In the living room, Petri has been teaching his exercise routine to Eetu. (Petri plays ice hockey in the outside world.) The guys are doing sit-ups and other exercises on the floor area in the middle of sofas. Nino is interested in this too because he's been constantly complaining about having gained weight in the house.

Eetu: "I'm going to do this set of exercises every morning now."
Petri: "I usually do three rounds of that. Or did when I still actively exercised."
Eetu: "Yeah, but we're on BB now."
Noora: "Yes, don't overdo it guys!"

12:39 Nino tells the others if he got to the final week he would start a diet. No matter what the production team would carry before him, vodka shots or hamburger, he wouldn't touch them.

Nino: "They are not going to squeeze any entertainment out of me any longer after that."

He would suffer through the studio interviews and restaurants and then go home to hide from the world as quickly as possible.

12:49 Jani, Elli-Maija, and Noora entered the house as new housemates only a week ago.

Elli-Maija (to Jani): "We're through the first week. Hopefully still several ahead of us."

Jani: "Yeah, I'm hoping the same."

12:57 Elisabet, Sandra and Marika are sitting in the smoking area. Sandra remarks they have a bigger yard in Slovenia. It has a grassy field area where they can play games. They also get more sun there. Marika says she doesn't like the BBF yard; it's badly designed. Everything is in the shadows.

12:59 The housemates are now back inside the house. Sandra has promised them an aerobic exercise and is not stretching in front of the mirror.

They're wondering about the video greeting they have shot and sent to Slovenia. Why haven't they got a similar greetings video back? Sandra thinks it's a bit of a shame if it will only be shown very near just before she leaves or soon after that.

12:13 Sandra is teaching Elisabet and Marika some dance moves. Noora and Petri try some moves too.

13:30 Sandra is going out to have a smoke with Elisabet. Elisabet mentions she didn't take any high heels with her in the house. Sandra: "You own high heels? I want to see you in high heels!" (Judging by her hippie clothing style in the house, Elisabet is not the kind of person who you would necessarily expect to be using high heels a lot.)

13:56 The Finnish housemates have gathered at the dinner table while Sandra is in the confession room. Someone cracks a joke she'll surely now be telling about all her doubts in there. But actually the housemates think they have succeeded in their mission. Telling the truth to Sandra will not be easy and they're worried about how she will react. They hope they will have enough time setting thing straight and teaching her something the real Finland as well.

Marika is so sad because she has been the main narrator in the "Fake Finland" presentations and she's also been answering many of Sandra's questions on behalf of the other housemates, for her better command of English. So Sandra might now see her being the main lier in the house and be really disappointed about her. Petri says they have all made equal effort in planning the presentations, it's not Marika's fault.

Nino suggests, half-jokingly, that Sandra will be coming out of the confession room soon, crying "Whyyyy? Whyyy?" and she has already been told everything was a lie. And then she'll go straight to Elisabet (Sandra has said she would like to have a daughter like Elisabet), and say "Elisabet, I'm very disappointed at you."

The housemates comfort themselves that at least they've only told her lies about the daily life in Finland, not about themselves as persons, or anything else in general. They've been their normal themselves all the time she's been here.

14:02 Jani tells he's been quietly observing Sandra's expressions during their "Fake Finland" presentations. He has never once noticed Sandra would have looked like really suspicious about anything.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

14:10 Sandra is now back from the confession room. She organizes a couple of rounds of "pantomime game" she has promised teaching to the Finnish housemates. Surprisingly, also Jani agrees to take part in this game.

Marika is trying to show the others the word pair "Big Brother" by means of pantomime. They get the word "Big" pretty quickly but "Brother" takes a lot of time. Everyone starts laughing when they finally figure it out. They had been suggesting words like "father" and "sister" before that.

14:40 Big Brother orders everyone to go out of the house, on the patio. The shades go down in front of the patio door and windows, blocking the view and access to inside.

Petri has been told in the confession room they need to gather on the sofas and they will get something on TV. The housemates think they'll be getting the greetings from Slovenia now. Sandra hopes they'll also get to see how the Big Brother Slavnih house looks like.

14:58 The housemates are let back in. The camera phone Sandra had been using earlier to record a video diary of her trip is in the living room, connected to the TV set with a cord. They get a task where they need to choose five video clips among those Sandra has shot and edit them together using the built-in video editor functionality of the phone.

15:05 The Finnish housemates and Sandra negotiate what kind of clips they would choose. Sandra would like to select the ones with most information (fake information) about Finland, the Finnish housemates prefer action shots more where they dance or sing or do the (fake) rituals. They have not been told what will happen to the finished video, but Sandra thinks the edited clip will be shown to her housemates back in Slovenia.

15:28 The time is up and the task is over. Everyone is out on the patio again. They start putting together some pizzas from ready-made pizza crusts and various toppings.

16:33 Everyone has managed to put bake a custom pizza for themselves. They gather at the dinner table, and do the utensil-clinking ritual. Sandra also quietly says her prayer. The other housemates asks her to translate the prayer. It turns out to be a (shortened?) variant of Pater Noster. The Finnish housemates read Sandra aloud the Finnish version. Sandra thinks its very long. Discussion about religious beliefs follows. Marika doesn't believe in God of any kind. Noora says she's an agnostic. Nino doesn't know what the fuck he believes in, but he would like to have a normal (Christian?) funeral.

18:33 The housemates have been called to the sofas once again. They get an announcement that their weekly task has now ended. Everyone, Sandra included, is sitting on the sofas nervous and anxious to hear the results.

Big Brother tells the housemates their weekly budget will be either 445.76 euros or 2.24 euros, depending on whether they passed or failed the test.

Big Brother: "Your weekly task has..."

The TV comes on. The housemates see various clips of themselves teaching Sandra fabricated facts about Finland, doing the rituals and dances, singing, etc. They also see some of Sandra's confessions room clips where she tells what she has been learning each day.

Big Brother: "...succeeded!"

The housemates break into loud cheers and hug each other and Sandra. Sandra also seems satisfied and happy about being a good little trooper when learning the customs of "Finland" and helping her housemates to pass the task.

The TV set goes blank again. The housemates are left happy about passing the task but confused, wondering whether they can now reveal Sandra they have been fooling her all the time, or whether there will be a separate announcement revealing that. What will happen now?

Nino says they will have to break it out now. The housemates gather around Sandra's sofa.

Kuva

Marika (with a sad, apologetic smile on her face): "Sandra, we have something to confess to you. But please, please, please don't get offended at us."

Sandra is looking all confused and serious now.

Noora: "We were supposed to tell you wrong, but believable, picture of Finland."

Sandra: "..."

Noora: "Everything we have told you; the sauna, the history, and..."

Elli-Maija: "Politics."

Noora: "...yeah"

Elisabet: "It doesn't go that way but..."

Marika: "Yeah some of the things are like true that we have been talking about, but, like, for example, in sauna, we don't really wear wool socks and fur hats. And we don't have polar bears in Finland."

They all break into laughter, Sandra among them.

(See video clip here.)

Sandra: "Are you serious?" The housemates are hugging her and thanking her for believing in these things, for without that the task would have failed. They reveal her more of their lies and laugh with her.

Sandra (laughing but with a disappointed tone of voice): "I was so sure..."

Marika asks Sandra again not to be mad at them; they had to do this as part of their weekly task. Sandra says she understands this.

Sandra: "Oh no, I'm... impressed. Was it all a lie?" She tells them she had already fallen in love with the Finland they had described to her and even wanting to live in such a wonderful place. Then she breaks into tears, sobbing she was so happy about it all and now she feels like she doesn't know Finland at all.

Kuva

The housemates explain to her they had been telling her altered truth, but it was not all lie; many of the details do exist in Finland but take a bit different form. For example, the blood sausages they had had for sauna are eaten in Finland but are not connected to sauna traditions. And mämmi, the brown porridge-like dessert is eaten on Easter, but not all the time.

Sandra (with a sad face, tears in her eyes): "I understand you only wanted to do your task well." But she says she was so proud about having learned well all the details about Finland. She's also amazed how convincing the housemates were when they were telling her about the Christmas traditions and political system of fake Finland and all, even when she kept asking more questions about them.

Sandra: "You're very good actors."

The housemates assure her she can now ask about anything she wants and they will tell her nothing but the whole truth.

Sandra is called to the confession room.

19:00 Sandra spent a long time in the confession room. The Finnish housemates went out for smokes and to get some fresh air while waiting her to return.

They were discussing how open-minded, open-hearted and enthusiastic Sandra appeared when she was first learning about Finland and how greatly disappointed she now was when it was all reveled to be lies. They're now feeling really shitty and embarrassed about the whole thing - having had to do something like this to their guest - and especially about doing it to a person who they had learned to like a lot during her stay.

19:09 Sandra has returned from the confession room, crying. She headed directly to the bathroom, past the sofas where the housemates where sitting and waiting for her, and went sitting on the raised floor area in front of the bathtub. She's holding her knees, quietly sobbing and wiping tears off her eyes.

The other housemates, still on the sofas, are staring blankly in front of them or at their feet, all with serious faces, some with tears in their eyes. They're pretty sure Sandra will not appreciate anyone's company right now.

Marika can't take it, she gets up and goes to the bathroom, even though some of the other housemates tell her Sandra will probably rather be alone right now. She sits down beside Sandra and starts hugging and comforting her, trying to explain to her how bad they all are now feeling for her, and what kind of feelings they have had about this cheating thing during the week also.

Elisabet joins them too. Elisabet and Marika now both hugging and comforting Sandra, who is very very sad and down. Marika says she would really have loved telling her the real facts and stories about Finland, and Sandra will hear them, they will tell her if she only wants to.

Sandra: "I know... (sob) it's just the fact that... there were so many different things, you know, like every day something new, and... I don't know!"

Sandra: "Every day there was something new and I don't, I loved every part of it. (sob) You were saying it with such a passion and I was so impressed. (sob)"

Marika (with an empathetic, comforting tone of voice): "Oh..."

Sandra: "(sob) I'm just disappointed. (pause) I just want to go home right now."

(See here for a video clip.)

19:15 Marika, Elisabet have managed to get Sandra out of the bathroom. They have now all gathered around her in the smoking area. Sandra is having a smoke and no longer crying, but still feeling very depressed and hurt. She says all she wants right now is to go home.

Sandra says everything was so new and wonderful, she really liked it. She doesn't care if she'll appear stupid or anything. She feels like she's stupid but doesn't care. She just liked the "Finland" they were telling her about and now she doesn't really know anything about the country.

The others are trying to comfort her by saying it was just a task: they don't know anything about Slovenia either, and if they had been chosen for an exchange to Slovenia and subjected to similar cheating, they would have been easily fooled in just the same way.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

19:31 The housemates were called to the sofas. Nino asked the others to tell Sandra the people here are the same; the housemates did not tell any lies about themselves.

Elisabet also tells Sandra she was so annoyed during the week when she couldn't tell her about her true desire to become a police officer because the "Fake Finland" did not have police force, only army handling the same function. Sandra is beginning to laugh a bit.

Petri asks Sandra what she thought of the "Finnish" Christmas traditions. Sandra says she was confused because they had Santa dancing on the table to a very modern dance beat, but she then thought maybe it was just a remix of a traditional Christmas song. They tell Sandra the lyrics actually mean "Shake your Christmas ham, Christmas booty", everybody laughs.

They also explain to her that Finnish homes do have Christmas trees, just like in Slovenia and bonfires are not lit on Christmas but on Midsummer night. Sandra was laughing about how Petri and some of the others had commented to her with a straight face "I've seen it in movies" when she explained about the Slovenian Christmas traditions and Christmas trees.
Sandra (smiling): "You're all really good actors, you know, you should get an Oscar for this."

Marika clarifies the Finnish Christmas traditions are actually quite similar to those Sandra explained about Slovenia; going to church and all.

19:34 Sandra's music video "Vroča Kakor Afrika" starts playing on TV. "You're so sexy!" comment some of the housemates, marveling her "Shakira hair" in the video. They think the video and the song was very nice. Sandra clearly starts to be in a better mood, getting over the initial hit of disappointment.

19:39 Big Brother announces the housemates are to stage a Head of the House competition next. (Head of the House gets immunity from nominations for a week and other privileges.)

Sandra is called to the confession room. She returns with an order to clear out the floor area in the middle of the sofas by carrying the coffee table aside. Sandra's song will be played again, and all Finnish housemates will have to dance to it while Sandra will be watching them perfom and acting as a judge. After it's all over, she will need to announce the winner in the confession room.

Sandra says she will judge their dance moves the same way as if it would be an audition for background dancers wanted in a music video.

The housemates are laughing that now it's their turn to be humiliated. But they think it's only fair Sandra gets to do this because they've had to cheat her all week.

19:46 The song starts playing and the housemates dance, laughing about the situation.

19:50 Sandra needs to go to the confession room to tell Big Brother whom she chose as the winner. The Finnish housemates are all out of breath and sweaty.

Jani (panting): "We'll it's sure not going to be me!"

Before entering the confession room, Sandra reminded them she was just audience and "No hard feelings". Elli-Maija is sure she's going to get nominated and evicted next Sunday while Noora thinks she has good chances of winning this HoH competition. Elli-Maija thinks it's going to be Elisabet. Eetu thinks it's Petri or Elisabet. The others agreed with him: if it's a guy, it's Petri, if a girl, it's Elisabet.

19:52 The housemates are still waiting for Sandra to come back and the announcement about the winner. While waiting, they're dancing a bit more and laughing about each others' dance moves. Nino comments he's in a really bad shape. He's waiting for the party tonight, there's surely going to be one. Petri is looking forward to getting a PlayStation with the SingStar karaoke game; a recurring feature in Big Brother Finland.

Jani liked Sandra's songs. Nino noted Sandra looks slimmer in real life.

19:55 Sandra is back from the confession room. She says they need to wait for an announcement from Big Brother. There were 3 or 4 good dancers but she had to pick only one. But "no hard feelings", right? The housemates understand this, having to do these selections, it's just part of "the game".

19:58 Sandra is now laughing about them having told her Finns don't drink much alcohol. The housemates think Sandra will now see the "real Finland" during tonight's party. They also tell her they were trying to keep Elisabet from drinking too much last night so that the lie would hold up but it didn't quite work out.

20:00 Big Brother announces that, according to Sandra, the best dancer, and therefore the next Head of the House, will be... "Elisabet!"

Elisabet: "Are you serious? What the fuck!?"

The others are patting her back and congratulating her on winning. Elisabet has never won the Head of the House title. Sandra told them she thought about her selection for a long time and was considering Elli-Maija as well. They had both danced lively, gyrating their hips and chest, like they do in Africa. Elli-Maija is called to the confession room.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

20:29 Elli-Maija is back from the diary room. She went to straight to the bathroom, crying.

20:38 Marika is now in the bathroom comforting Elli-Maija. Elli-Maija is crying because she's sure she'll be evicted next Sunday, now that she didn't even win the Head-of-the-House immunity. Noora comes to Elli-Maija's comfort as well. Nino comes to the bathroom to take a leak, does it in the background while the comforting session is still going on next to the bathtub.

20:39 The housemates are telling Sandra about the ideas they thought out for the exchange week but rejected as too suspicious. One of them was having to wash your hands both before doing your business in the bathroom and after it. Elisabet is also demonstrating Sandra how one of their other ideas was that in Finland, people sit on the toilet seat the wrong way, facing the water tank and the wall. Sandra is having a good laugh about this. But she says she was already in love with the Fake Finland. She would have liked to live in that country. She was so excited.

20:47 Sandra thinks now everyone will think she's a fool. The other housemates say "no they won't". Nino says they were already starting to believe in their own lies and legends, doing and practicing them for so many days. Marika says they were afraid they would get someone who would immediately bust their scheme. Sandra says she had some doubts but had no idea it would all be just a big lie. The "Finnish legends" of course were a bit strange, but legends are fairy tales, anyway. And the other things, some of them were weird but she thought they must be true when everyone told her they were.

Marika is complimenting Sandra on how wise and kind-hearted she is. She was so enthusiastic and kept asking questions. She's the kind of positive person who rather wants to believe than be cynical about everyhing and live in constant doubt. Sandra says she never once believed they would actually be lying to her.

20:50 Sandra is miffed about the Finnish politics and government, especially. She was so interested in the subject, and she wants to be knowledgeable about European countries. Petri reminds her she was just one person and there were 8 native residents of the country telling her otherwise. Even if she had remembered there's a president in Finland, instead of a queen, she would have believed that kind of an opposition, thinking that she must have mixed Finland with some other country. They're the natives, after all, they should know.

20:53 Petri asks the others to tell Sandra about another idea they had, for explaining the origin of the sea between Finland and Sweden. Marika is so happy they skipped that idea; she was sure no-one would ever going to belive it. Petri explains the idea: supposedly Russian solders would have digged a wide trench filled with water as a defense line in 1769 and it would have become a sea later on, due to the motion of the tectonic plates.

Sandra: "I'm not that stupid."

21:02 Nino is asking Sandra all kinds of things about her music video and singing career, using the other housemates as interpreters.

21:05 The discussion moves on to Mr. Bean. Sandra loves Mr. Bean, especially the episode where he's in church. Eetu starts imitating Mr. Bean and can do the voice quite well.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

21;32 Music starts playing all of a sudden. The shades that block the view and access to the patio and the yard begin to rise. "Oh my God! the housemates are shouting. There are lots of balloons and streamers in the patio and the yard, and the patio table is loaded with drinks and foods.

It seems to be a Finnish May Day celebration in November.

They also get the student caps and patched student overalls which Finnish university students often wer during May Day celebration, and in many of their other student functions as well - usually those where drinking is not an optional but a required activity.

Elisabet: "We gonna be so drunk today!"

Petri notes there's some piece of paper with more instructions for them.

21:33 Sandra is looking at the foods and screaming this is just what she was talking about earlier, they had the same thing in February. Petri reads the instructions, Marika translates. It is a traditional Finnish May Day celebration. They need to wear the student overalls and student caps. Everyone must also give a toast speech during the night.

21:36 There are vodka shots too. Sandra is opening a bottle of sparkly wine.

Sandra: "Anybody else drink this?"
The others: "Yeah!"
Sandra (laughing): "Hell yeah!"

Sandra says it's going to be for her almost-last day in Finland.

The overalls have some text in their back. It says "School of Life".

21:44 Marika is wearing heart-shaped shades. She shoots some streamer around and greets the others with a "Happy May Day!" cry. Music is still playing. Sauna and jacuzzi will also be available for them.

22:13 The toast speech are going on. The housemates have been saying how sorry they are about having had to cheat Sandra and complimenting her by saying lots of nice things about her: how lovely, open-minded, kind-hearted person she is. It's Eetu's turn (Eetu has been constantly complaining about how shitty his English is):

Eetu: I'm sorry too that we bullshit you. But it was our secret mission. I really hope we will see after this whole thing. I really like you and everyone on there. I will never forget you. I don't say I like you, but I very like you much.

Sandra (moved): Oh!

They hug each other.

22:14 Elli-Maija says the others have already said everything she wanted to say. She hasn't traveled a lot and Sandra has made her want to visit her homeland, Slovenia. She still says how sorry she is about the weekly task.

Noora's speech had a similar message but she broke into tears and almost couldn't continue.

Petri says this week has been the best of all ten weeks here. He hopes it has been that for Sandra as well, despite them cheating her. Sandra is the most beautiful person Petri has had the honor of getting to know, both inside and outside. He hopes Sandra doesn't hold any grudges for the weekly task. "Cheers!"

22:27 More music. Elisabet is telling all kinds of nice things about Sandra and Sandra is complimenting Elisa back. Petri says Elisabet and Sandra are kindred souls. Sandra is so moved about these words she's almost crying now.

22:44 Elisabet and Sandra are now singing Michael Jackson songs in the smoking area. Petri and Marika are joining in on the songs they know.

Day 73/97 - Thursday (2010-11-04)

23:09 The sauna is ready for bathing and the housemates are planning to go there. They sing "Hakuna Matata" now. Sandra is now in the bathroom, changing into bikinis under the cover of clothes and a towel, but she doesn't mind Petri who's there taking a shower at the same time. Sandra complains about having gained weight. Petri says he's gained 10kg in the house. Marika thinks she's like a whale when compared to Sandra. Elisabet pops in asking if everybody is going to go to the jacuzzi. She starts then changing into bikinis herself.

23:14 Sandra had lost her microphone for a while but found it eventually. Eetu is in the yard saying no-one will be waiting for him in the studio when he'll come out of the house on Sunday. He's so sure about that.

23:18 Petri is in the jacuzzi with Sandra. He's telling her about Ksenia, a former housemate. Her tits grew so big in the house due to her gaining weight that all her bras were too small for her when she left.

23:25 Drunk housemates are having a loud and lengthy discussion about former housemates who they would have liked to stay in the house and who they will surely keep in contact with later.

I'm going to skip over a couple of days of backlog (might come back to some of it later if I get the time.) The most important parts of Sandra's visit were already covered anyway.

Now onto more current update snippets:

Day 76/97 - Sunday (2010-11-07)

12:27 Niko is sitting at the breakfast table with the other housemates; they've been sleeping quite late. He's in a good mood, smiling and telling stories about his visit to the Big Brother Slavnih house, but a bit amused about some details.

He says he witnessed an argument even on the last day of his visit. It was conducted in Slovenian, but he could pretty well guess what they were saying by the tone of their voice and expressions. On that day, Nana had been cleaning up in the house. Igor had wanted her to stop, but she continued. Then Igor said something offending to her which Niko interpreted as being the Slovenian equivalent for "Suck my dick." Everyone had gone aghast; Nana had asked him what did he just say. Igor had said something like "you heard what I just said, bitch." Then Nana had just went somewhere to cry.

Niko had then discussed the subject with the girls a bit and told them it's different culture in Finland: here women would not be defeated or break into tears about such things but just come up with an even more outrageous comeback and continue the fight as if nothing had happened. The Slovenian women seemed amazed about that, saying something like "No? You're kidding us!" And then Niko had told them that "No, really, in Finland women throw men with corn cobs when they get angry" (Lots of laughter around the table as that's what Elisabet did in one party when she was drunk and got really angry at Petri.)

To explain the above mentioned argue - Igor politely said to Nana that she should leave the garbage there and she answered in high voice get up and do it yourself. Igor then lost his temper and said Suck the dick, not Suck my dick. Nana then made a scene of that, cried, went to sonfession room to ask BB to throw Igor out of the house.... She is drama queen, don't believe everything that is said or written. I dont' say that Igor's reaction is correct but Nana is really a terible person ...
She is no better woman - she said many times worse thing about Igor,Maki and others and then she wants to be Mother Teresa. Come on.. she must go out tonight. She's the worst person in the house. She steals cigarettes from Maki, she stole a bottle of wine on the night when Niko has a farewell party, she hides milk in her drawer so that others should not drink it... and she always swears to her children that she didn't do this or that... poor children who have such mother .

^ Thanks for the clarification! The above version of the events was of course Niko's personal interpretation about the situation, him not knowing the language or the history of the housemates.

Day 76/97 - Sunday (2010-11-07)

12:48 Eetu asks Niko whether he ever got to see the "Magic Room" Sandra told them about. Niko says a couple of Slovenian housemates got there to watch a movie but he was not invited. They also ask him whether there was a pool or a jacuzzi and did he visit it. He says they were going to go when the weather was pretty nice but then Big Brother had told them they can't.

The others are wondering a bit about that; here Sandra was a "special guest" who was taken everywhere and got to experience everything. Well, she didn't visit the "secret area" of the house during her stay but none of them was allowed to go there during the exchange week. Niko says he tried the infrared sauna, though, and it was pretty good.

Niko also mentions, laughing, that the housemates were often speaking long stretches in Slovenian in his presence and he could make out the words "Finnish" and "Niko" in the speech several times. He had then asked what was that all about and usually got the answer "it's nothing important".

Nino laughs and says that's awful. He imagines what it would have been like if Elisabet had been sent on exchange instead of Niko, as her mother tongue is Russian, and she already said during Sandra's visit she can make out some words in the Slovenian songs Sandra was singing. Nino then begins showing how Elisabet would have listened to those discussions about herself, pounded her fist on the table and said "Goddamnit!" and then the corn cobs would have been flying in the air again. Everyone laughs about this image.

13:32 Niko and the others are now sitting on the sofas. Niko has been comparing the Slovenian swear words and offending expressions to the Finnish ones. He says they're much more outrageous than the usual Finnish ones which can be said to your pals in a jocular way, and laughs that he's not even sure how someone can come up with such ideas for expressions. One of the examples he gives is something like "fucking everyone in the front row of your own funeral."

Niko also mentions, a bit amused, that Igor appeared to be a traveled guy - seen the world and all - but then at one point he had just said to him he "appreciates women as women, but not as persons."

"What the fuck?" say the Finnish HMs.
"Yeah, that's what he said."

13:42

Nino: "Jezba (Niko) looks like he's a bit freaked out."
Niko: "You should have seen me when I originally went there."

But Niko also mentions he was already adjusting to the life there: he could have spent the rest of the season in the Big Brother Slavnih house if so required, with no problems.
