I'll deflower this thread as well.

The BBF housemates received instructions on their new weekly task on Monday.

25.10.2010 14:44:
Big Brother kirjoitti: Weekly task: International housemate exchange

Big Brother shows have been produced in 127 countries. Over two billion viewers have watched some edition of the Big Brother format.

Millions of pairs of eyes from all over the world are watching you. How entertaining a picture you will paint of our country is up to your attitude and the effort you are willing to invest.

Your primary task for this week is to give a false but believable picture of Finland and the Finnish way of life.

During this week, you will plan and practice various presentations which are designed to give a false but believable picture of Finland. You can use your acting abilities, recite, sing, give lectures and let your creativity and imagination blossom in all imaginable ways.

While the weekly task is on you may present your wishes to the Big Brother concerning the props you require. These will possibly be delivered to you later. As usual, the effort and activity you display will settle whether this task shall pass or fail. Finland and the rest of the world are monitoring you!

Information about the daily themes of this weekly task and the additional secondary weekly task will be announced to you later.

With regards,
Big Brother
25.10.2010 16:14:
Big Brother kirjoitti:Secondary weekly task: Do not pay attention to oddities

In addition to the primary weekly task, the housemates also received a secondary weekly task.

While the secondary weekly task is on, strange phenomena and things may occur in the Big Brother House. You must not pay any attention to these strange occurrences, things or objects.

Your success in the secondary weekly task will also affect the success of your primary weekly task.

The daily themes of the primary weekly task will be announced to you later. You should note that no one will advance the primary task for you: your own activity is the only way to succeed in creating a falsified but believable image of Finland for the housemate who will arrive for the international exchange.

With regards,
Big Brother

Big Brother kirjoitti:Evening task: False but believable legendary stories

You are to fabricate false but believable Finnish legendary tales which shall also incorporate moral lessons. They may contain supernatural elements and non-existent or incorrectly used Finnish mythological characters.

You may also continue your efforts at creating false but believable examples of Finnish culture.

Be innovative and creative!

This week, the housemates were assigned a primary weekly task and a secondary weekly task. The instructions for the secondary weekly task urged them to ignore any unexpected, weird and unusual phenomena that may occur in the Big Brother house.

Here's what one of the male housemates, Eetu, found in his bed last night - and needed to ignore:

Video

(The video may not be "safe for work".)

The secondary task requires that all the other housemates ignore these things as well but they're apparently having a bit hard time doing that...

The "historic" stories and legends that the housemates have fabricated about Finland include, for instance, riding on the back of a polar bear, non-existent kings, wars that were never fought, weird sports and a special "sauna prayer". (You can view a video clip where they're practicing both a fake "national anthem" and a fake "national dance" they just invented to fool the exchange housemate.)

When not fabricating stories, the housemates have had an argument over whether Michael Jackson, "the king of pop", is well-known all over the world and known by 99% of the world's population or not. See here for a video clip of this argument.

Kuva

The Finnish housemate pictured above, Elisabet, is a rabid Michael Jackson fan and almost religious over him. She has compared MJ to Jesus, allows absolutely no badmouthing of him and will usually fiercely defend her idol if people dare to say anything untoward about him. She also has a large image of Jackson's face tattooed on her back.

The viewers have also been announced that Eetu, who was challenged with a secret task last week which involved getting up on the night without anyone noticing and moving to sleep on other side of the bedroom in the same bed with a gay housemate, will get a punishment for partially failing the task. (Eetu actually did get up and managed to sneak in the same bed with Nino, the gay housemate, but the other housemates woke up and started questioning what on Earth is he trying to do. See here for a video clip.)

It is generally assumed on the forums that Eetu's upcoming punishment for failing the secret challenge is not going to be a walk in the park but something quite nasty, or at least embarrassing.

Eetu appears to be now suffering his punishment. He got it for failing the secret challenge which was assigned to him a couple of days ago. It seems he has been ordered to sit upright on the sofa in the living room and stay awake for the night:

Eetu is already in bed, so I don't think this was the punishment. In that picture, it seems like he's naked, but i guess he has briefs on.

By that pic, I think he's wearing his boxer shorts ... though it would be a nice twist in otherwise lame a season if he actually had to stay up all night naked.

Though in that case there wouldn't be much "fun" in it since there's generally nobody around to witness it (except those with 24/7 and watching).

Better off would have been to chain him up with the blow-up Peter with those handcuffs and make him carry it around for the rest of the week like he was being chained with a living person ...

The sex toys lying about in the BBF house are related to the secondary task of the week: the housemates need to disregard all weird occurrences and strange objects popping up in the house - they should just go on as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

(Why sex toys? One of the many sponsors of Big Brother Finland is an adult toy shop. I'm pretty sure this week must be their scheduled product placement week!)

The housemates have also received several weird announcements via the house PA system. They are supposed to ignore them, but it has proven to be a bit difficult...

Some brief updates on recent events in the BBF house since no-one else has posted to this thread...

Yesterday, the BBF housemates were still given another evening task related to their primary weekly task. This time, they were required to fabricate "a false but believable" cuisine for Finland. They were also told to plan a daily rotating menu for the exchange housemate, composed of these supposedly "Finnish" dishes.

Today, in the morning, the housemates received a strange guest:

Kuva

Kuva

During the last few weeks, the housemates have actually been trying to hatch an real chicken egg in the house. They originally got this egg from a farm-themed weekly task which included some live hens and even a rooster among other farm animals. One of the hens laid an egg during her stay in the task area. Since the housemates though the rooster might have been involved, they brought the egg in into the house, thinking it might have been fertilized and hoping they could maybe artificially hatch it in the house. Since then, they have kept the egg in a kitchen cupboard, above an always-on lamp providing warmth, inside a kitchen mitten. They even named the egg Vipa.

Nothing much has come out of that project this far, but apparently the production team thought that it is time for "Vipa" to finally hatch out!

The secondary task of the week, "Do not pay attention to oddities", was still on, so the housemates were required to ignore any strange things going on in the house... including huge chickens hatching in the house and running around.

See here for a video clip and here for pictures. Vipa even takes a shower with Vilhelmiina, one of the female housemates!

Kuva

Kuva

It seems the housemates didn't manage to ignore "Vipa" too well, though... He's a bit of an attention-seeker.

Later on during the day - after "Vipa" had already left the house - the housemates were indeed ordered to gather to the sofas and Big Brother announced to them that their secondary weekly task has failed. The TV came on and the housemates were shown a compilation of video clips earlier from the week and earlier today where they reacted to the strange events, despite being told not to.

The secondary task of the week has now finished, but the primary task is still on, until further notice.

There was a party in the BBF house last night to welcome the three new housemates. The outside jacuzzi was open and the sauna was heated for bathing; the housemates were provided with snacks and alcoholic beverages.

Kuva

Kuva

Some time into the evening, Marika (pictured above) was beginning to be very drunk and started acting a bit erratically. Big Brother asked her to the diary room and ordered her to go to bed. Marika was not too happy with this order; she was angry and crying and defiant about the whole thing: she was not going to go to bed yet!

Vilhelmiina had a long talk with her, trying to tuck her into bed and convince her to follow Big Brother's orders. But Marika was not taking any of this; she was acting restlessly and crying and shouting and babbling incoherently, trying to get up from the bed and continue partying. (Marika has had these kind of drunken fits before, the housemates are quite used to them by now.) She also had a very agitated diary room session together with another housemate who was trying to calm her down, shouting and screaming so loud everyone heard it even through the doors.

Many housemates took turns trying to talk her some sense and calm her down but Big Brother called the party off as Marika just wouldn't stay in the bed. Eventually the confused Marika jumped up from the bed, run to the yard, removed the covers from the top of the jacuzzi (the covers were already put in place because the party was called off) and jumped in with clothes on. The housemates fished her off and put her into bed.

Here's a video clip compilation of Marika's night, and here's another clip where Nino and Vilhelmiina are talking about Marika's behavior.

There was also a heated argument where Nino accused everyone in the house having bullied Marika in one way or the other and this being the result. Marika has also survived 8 nominations already, so there's the stress factor from that too, according to Nino.

It is expected that Marika will get a punishment from defying Big Brother's orders - some have speculated she would even be ejected from the house - but the type of the punishment, or if there will be a punishment, has not yet been revealed. This morning, Marika has been OK and in a happy and normal mood. She has also visited the diary room today and spent there 13 minutes.

Niko just came back from the diary room and called all housemates on the living room sofas so he could make an announcement: he's going to leave the BBF house tomorrow for a housemate exchange.

Because the weekly task was named "International Housemate Exchange" the other housemates already knew there was probably going to be one. They also suspected Niko would be the most likely one to go, so they were not too surprised about the announcement. But they were happy on Niko's behalf, congratulated him and wished him good luck.

Niko hasn't been told where he's going. There are all kinds of suggestions flying... Brazil etc. At the moment, the housemates are still sitting on the sofas and speculating about the exchange.

Some of the housemates are now worried they can't explain the "false Finland" "facts" to the foreign exchange housemate as well now that Niko is not going to be available. (Niko is one of the most fluent English speakers in the house.)

Here's a video clip of Niko's announcement.

14:10 Finnish housemates are speculating whether the foreign exchange housemate will know anything about Finland and how easily will he or she actually believe the false stories about Finland they have been preparing the whole week (as per their weekly task.)

They are also going through some of the fake stories they have fabricated, trying to rehearse and drill them through so they could actually remember all the important (falsified) details when the exchange housemate arrives.

(Vilhelmiina isn't participating. She has a major hangover from yesterday and just quietly lies on the floor with a wet towel on her forehead. :D )

15:00 Big Brother ordered all housemates gather to the sofas. Even Vilhelmiina had to leave the bathroom and join the others. (She looks really trashed and is obviously suffering from a mega-hangover.)

Once the housemates were sitting on the sofas, Big Brother called one of them to the diary room. Petri volunteered. The housemates are not quite sure what's going on now.

15:04 Petri came out of the diary room... carrying a burlap sack. And then ordered everyone to sit in silence.

15:05 "This is Big Brother. There is no Captain in the Big Brother house at the moment. The next thing you will do is the traditional Friday Hang-Over Sweepstakes."

Kuva

Petri walks over to each housemate and lets them fish a sealed envelope out of the sack. The housemates may only open the envelopes after everyone has got one.

The housemates open their envelopes. Everyone else gets a note saying they didn't win, except Jani, whose note says it's the winning ticket... and he's eligible to ordering restaurant meals with the touch-screen online shopping system for himself and two other housemates, who he is required to name. (This is a privilege traditionally reserved for the Head of the House, so apparently Jani is now one.)

Jani is called to the diary room to make his selection of the two housemates. He soon comes back announcing Noora and Niko can stay inside the house, but the rest need to go outside to the terrace while the three of them are ordering the meals.

Niko: I feel a bit bad for the others now since you chose me for this...
Jani: I thought you should have a proper meal before you leave us. Some kind of a farewell lunch or something.
Niko: Thanks. I like your thinking.

Kuva

The TV screen comes on. Jani, Niko, and Noora carry out their online meal orders using the touch screen. (The restaurant they order their meals from is Pizza Hut.)
