A brief summary of this post without all the excruciating details:
- http://www.katsomo.fi/bigbrother ("Osta katseluaikaa" = buy viewing time for the Big Brother Finland 24/7 live video feeds. Yes, you can view them from abroad.)
- http://www.bigbrother.fi/videot.shtml/ohjelmat ("Videot" = Video clips, "Ohjelmat" = Shows, "Valitse päivä" = Pick a day)
- http://bbviewer.blogspot.com/ (for those who have a Katsomo account and have subscribed to the 24/7 feeds)
Big Brother Finland 2011 - the seventh Big Brother season in Finland - began on 30th of August, at 7 p.m. local time (19:00 EEST, 16:00 UTC/GMT). It is now week number 8, day 51 of 97. The tagline for this season is "More secrets than ever before."
Live 24/7 video feeds
For those interested in following Big Brother Finland live, there is a 24/7 video feed service with six different live feeds from the house:
- "Director's Cut 1"
- "Director's Cut 2"
- "Living Room"
- "Camera Mix"
- "Big Brother Norway" (The BB Norway 24/7 live service includes several feeds, but only a single Director's Cut feed. This is the DC feed.)
Note: Subscribers to the Norwegian TV2/Sumo 24/7 live service now get the Finnish DC1 feed free for the duration of the exchange, just like subscribers to the Finnish Sub/MTV3/Katsomo 24/7 live service get the Norwegian DC feed for free. Unfortunately, Siv Anita is often shown in the Finnish DC2 feed while the DC1 feed is showing what the other housemates are doing. There have already been some interesting discussions between Siv Anita and the BBF housemates which have only been viewable on the DC2 feed. If you want to watch the DC2 feed, I guess there's no other way to get it than subscribing to the Finnish 24/7 live feeds directly.
A couple of screenshots from the Big Brother Finland 24/7 live video feed service:
The labels below the video picture, on the black bar, are for switching between the different feeds. You can also get a thumbnail preview pane showing what's going on in the other feeds by clicking the "Näytä kamerat" link.
Major credit cards are accepted. The pricing is as follows:
- Entire season: 33 euros.
- A Month: 20 euros.
- A Day: 8 euros.
- An Hour: 3 euros.
You can subscribe to the feeds at http://www.katsomo.fi/bigbrother. Once you have done that, you simply log in to the same page with your newly created Katsomo account, and can then access the live video feeds with your web browser. You need Microsoft's Silverlight plugin for your browser, preferably the most recent version. Since Katsomo makes use of the DRM features in Silverlight, and these have not been ported to Linux, Moonlight on Linux isn't going to work.
The DC1/DC2 feeds have a human director and human camera operators. In these feeds, pictures fluidly switch from one camera to the next, tracking the housemates and following the flow of the events in the usual style of a TV show.
DC1 is the primary feed and the one you'll be watching the most. DC2 is a secondary feed, useful in situations where people have divided into smaller groups and doing different things in different parts of the house. At times when all housemates have gathered together, DC2 may revert back to an identical picture with DC1 or display another angle to the situation. Sound engineers control the mic lines for both the DC1 and the DC2 streams independently so if they're showing different events and persons in different places, they can each have independent audio with the irrelevant mic lines closed.
The other four feeds behave in a more simplistic manner and can be likened to surveillance cameras. In these feeds, the sound only comes from the fixed house mikes - complete with all the ambient sounds such as echo, hum of air conditioning, etc. The cameras in these four feeds are not fixed, though. For example, they might switch cameras or point the camera currently providing the picture to the feed at a different direction, showing a more relevant view. In any case, these feeds are not constantly tended or monitored by human operators the way the DC1 and DC2 streams are, so they're much more static in their nature.
BBViewer - an alternative way to view the feeds
There is also an alternative way of viewing the 24/7 live video feeds: BBViewer.
BBViewer is an unofficial, fan-made Windows software application for viewing the Big Brother Finland 24/7 live video feeds. Here's a screenshot of BBViewer 2011 with all the six video feeds running simultaneously:
You can think of BBViewer as an alternative multimedia viewer application for watching the feeds. BBViewer is a more convenient way to watch them than having to use the offical Katsomo BB 24/7 live web page with a clumsy web browser.
BBViewer displays the video feeds in a separate window which is independent of your web browser. You can rearrange the video panes as you see fit, or pop them out as separate windows. You can also pin BBViewer in one the corners of your screen, on top of all other windows. There's a PIP (Picture-in-Picture) function as well.
BBViewer is free to download and use (donationware, actually!) but using it requires an MTV3 Katsomo user account/password and a valid BBF2011 24/7 subscription so it's only useful for those who have subscribed to the service and paid for access. Here's a translation of most of the UI options.
If you're interested in using BBViewer, make sure you'll apply the latest updates to Internet Explorer. You should also install the most recent version of Microsoft's Silverlight plugin for IE. BBViewer's video viewing functionality depends on these components.
Daily highlights and other BB shows broadcast on TV and viewable on the Internet
In addition to the live 24/7 video feeds, you will find...
- the daily highlights (titled "Big Brother", broadcast at 9 p.m. each night from Monday to Saturday)
- the Sunday live eviction shows (titled "Big Brother Talk Show", broadcast at 9 p.m. each Sunday), and
- the daily "BB Extra" talk shows (titled "Big Brother Extra", broadcast at 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday) - these have interviews (the Monday interview segment is reserved for the evictee), behind-the-scenes segments and information about upcoming events and twists, and also a brief live segment in which they typically show the housemates receiving a new task or hearing the result of the previous one, etc.
Actually - at least if youre a 24/7 subscriber - you can even watch all the BB shows live as they're broadcast on TV. This can't be done in BBViewer, as BBViewer only allows watching the TV shows later on, when they're over and archived. (BBViewer, of course, also allows viewing the 24/7 live feeds from the house even during the eviction show, when the housemates are sitting on the sofas, and you can see the actual moment of eviction from inside the house this way as well, but not the studio segments where the evictee sees his or her friends, relatives, or loved ones, is being interviewed etc.)
In order to view the actual shows and the studio segments live, you need to log in to the Katsomo BB page. Click on BB-ohjelmat ("BB Shows") > Kaikki ohjelmat ("All shows") > Big Brother Talk Show > NYT -alkanut 21.00 ("NOW - broadcast began at 21:00 (9 p.m.)") The same principle also applies to the other BB shows if you want to watch them live as they're broadcast. You can check out the local Finnish time on this page.
The aforementioned shows are also available for free viewing at the following address (at least from Finnish IP addresses, but I'm not completely sure if they're also freely accessible from abroad without a paid subscription - at least you can't view them live going that route):
("Videot" = Video clips, "Ohjelmat" = Shows, "Valitse päivä" = Pick a day)
The official website, forums, etc.
In addition to the streaming video service and the recorded shows, there's also the official BBF2011 website with news articles, video clips and updates:
And the official discussion forum:
And, alternatively, the unofficial but rather popular and well-established independent local fan forum, BBPlaza, which you're reading right now:

Hope this helps for starters.
In case you're trying to subscribe to the live 24/7 feeds but encounter difficult Finnish words, use Google Translate to your advantage. Or ask for help here. You need to register first in order to participate in the discussions.
You may also use Google Translate for reading the Finnish language forum discussions - such as the threads on this forum, as well as the news articles on the official website. Alas, as useful as it might be with some other languages, Google Translate mostly turns Finnish text into incomprehensible gobbledy-gok "English".
Feel free to spread the word and the link to this thread to any interested party. For example, Norwegian viewers already seem to be asking how to watch Finnish BB on the live chat of the official Norwegian BB website, and the Finnish viewers would probably like to know more about the Norwegian housemates and house. If you can help them find this information, all the better. You may need to use a simple shortened URL for referring to this thread, such as http://bit.ly/nqewv5, as not all sites accept ampersands or other special characters in their chat messages.
According to the Finnish Big Brother production, the exchange will take place on Friday. Curiously, Norwegian sources ínsist the exchange will take place on Sunday, instead. (Maybe the housemates will leave their respective BB houses on Friday and arrive at their destination on Sunday? That sounds a bit strange, though, since you don't need that much time for traveling between Espoo, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden, where the "Norwegian" BB is being produced.)
If there are Norwegian BB fans reading this, do you have any ideas or insight on who is going to be selected as the the Norwegian exchange housemate?
http://www.bigbrother.fi/uutiset.shtml/ ... b-extrassa
There's no official confirmation on any of this from BB Finland yet. They're postponing the announcement to the live "BB Extra" show which will air at 7 p.m. Finnish time.

It seems Finnish BB 24/7 live feed subscribers (Katsomo customers) have been given access to Big Brother Norway "Director's Cut" feed for the duration of the exchange week. BBViewer is also going to get an update which adds support for this extra feed. Yay! I wonder if they will also give the Norwegian 24/7 subscribers access to the Finnish DC1/DC2 feeds.
Nice to see you all. I can give you all a little update about all of the people in the house and the house in general now before the exchange is happening.
Siv Anita is the one going to your house today. She has a close connection with Andreas P since the first week they entered, and they share a bed. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and often tell people to their face what she thinks. It will be very fun to see how she will cope in the BB Finland house tho. She has never been nominated before so we still don't really know how popular she is. But the reactions from the outside is quite split.
Andreas P. is Siv Anitas closest person in the house. He is very similar to Siv Anita and often starts a fight with the other contestants. His personality changes rapidly when he doesn't get to smoke - so he can have many outburts since BB Norway try to limit their smoke He really dislikes David who entered the big brother house later (together with silje). Andreas P is also a professional cook, so he is the one making most of the food in there. He got nominated the third time this week but got immunity for winning a challenge.
Roberto is a mexican immigrant, but has lived in Norway for almost 10 years now. He is very well liked in the house, and on the outside - and probably one of the favorites to win the entire thing along with a few others. He quickly gets drunk (and sick) - but never does anything wrong. Overall he is a very relaxed and fun person to be around.
Caroline is probably the biggest personality in the house. She is not afraid to speak her mind, and has no problems talking about sex and less charming stuff (poo ). She has a funny laugh and is overall considered a very funny person by both the girls and the boys. She does not like Silje (vice-versa) but they try to get along.
Tine is along with Roberto probably one of the favorites to win. She has been nominated every week since day 1 and only has 1-2 close people in the house who like her (Joakim&Silje). She is considered a strong candidate for the win since she has survived so many nominations. She is also bi-lesbian (she seems a bit confused) but that is no problem in the house since all of them are very open about sex etc.
Tia-Maria is seen as the "cute" girl in the house. She is "together" with Magnus and they have had sex several times in the house. Some of the housemates are a bit annoyed because she constantly carries around her pig-teddybear (Lasse). Generally she is well liked - but this week she is nominated because she came last in this weeks challenge. She also has Finnish relatives (hence her surname) - but hasn't seen her dad in 11 years.
Magnus is the one who is sort of together with Tia-Maria. He sings all the time, and always want people to join in. He sees himself as a very funny guy - and doesn't really have much enemies in the house. Some people outside sees him as a big player (strategic wise) and he tries to hide it the best way he can. He always tries to avoid confrontation and big fights.
David is along with Silje one who came in a few weeks later than the rest of them. He is very feminime, but not gay. He likes to walk around naked and get much attention. He has already been evicted from the house 2 weeks ago, but was sent in again last sunday because one person left the house in the middle of the week. He also talks alot about partying in Magaluf etc. Siv Anita & Andreas P. really dislikes him. David is along with Tia-Maria nominated this week.
Silje is along with David one who came in a few weeks later than the rest of them. She is a big rival of Caroline and they don't really like eachother. She has been under attack alot in the house by other people but has survived 2 nominations, so people must like her. Silje is close to Joakim&Tine - and last night Silje&Joakim made out for the first time. She is also very outspoken and some gets annoyed by her (especially the girls who perhaps see her as a threat).
Lena-Charlotte is a glam-model but also a tomboy. She has a boyfriend outside, and she is obsessed with cars. She talks about cars alot. In general she is very well liked both in the house and outside. However she and Andreas P. do not get along well together. She is made fun of for eating the most in the house, but she just thinks it is fun. Overall a big contender for the win.
Joakim is along with Lena-Charlotte a very well liked person in the house. He has been Tine's biggest support in the house, and they are very close (friends-only). He can be very serious and crazy at the same time. Recently he and Silje has become very close as I said above. He was a huge favorite to win, but now we are not so sure. He is generally well liked. He is also quite close to Andreas P.
These are of course just my observations, but I think they give you a decent picture about the BB Norway house. Sorry about the spelling mistakes and the long text. You can find pictures/names on top of bigbrother.no
See the English language "live 24/7" threads on this board for updates on the events in both houses. (I hope people will post updates in English as frequently as they can.)
A question: is there any new information on whether the Norwegian 24/7 BB subscribers are going to get the Finnish DC1 or DC2 feeds included in their feed selection? Since the Finnish BB 24/7 live feed subscribers now have the Norwegian DC feed included among their normal Finnish feeds. (Which was a nice surprise.)
Uhm. As far as I know we don't have any live feeds from BB Finland. But we will probably get it aswell since you guys can see our DC.
Andreas P. was limping earlier today so they had to freeze the cameras a little while for medical staff to take a look at him. He is still not back so I think the BB production is kind of busy with him. Hopefully when he is back we will get DC.
The norwegian housemates still don't know anything about the swap (except Siv Anita). They think perhaps she has a mission, some even think she had to leave the house for personal reasons. She was sent to the confession room this morning and had no clue what was going on. Behind the chair a "ninja" was waiting for her, and put blindfold on her.
It will be a big shock to the housemates when they find out that she is in Finland, and that Janicaa is coming to their house.
Finnish housemates had few weeks ago a "ninja task", so it's funny that you had ninja there too.
Sorry my bad english. Wish you write here soon! And I wish this swap between Finland and Norway is gonna be nice!
Oh, that's interesting. I thought they were already told about the upcoming exchange as they were sent packing yesterday. Big Brother Norway 4 - Live discussion topic (English WHATM thread for Big Brother Norway)
Big Brother Norja 2011 - 24/7 keskustelu/raportointi (Finnish WHATM thread for Big Brother Norway)
If you'd like to provide updates and explanations to the current events and discussions in the BB Norway house as they happen live (in chronological order), feel free to post them to the first thread. Even brief, occasional updates about meaningful discussions or interesting interactions or occurrences would be helpful. The second thread is for the exact same purpose - for monitoring and describing the live events in the BBN house - but the language is Finnish.
There's also a similar English thread for describing the events in the Big Brother Finland house. This thread is intended to serve those who don't speak or read Finnish:
Big Brother Finland 7 - Live discussion topic
The corresponding Finnish 24/7 Live WHATM threads can be found here (for the current day) and here (archived threads from previous days). A new Finnish WHATM thread is automatically created for each day in the BBF house and the previous thread is moved to the archives. These threads contain the most detailed descriptions of the events in the Finnish house over the course of the entire season but the reports posted to them are in Finnish, of course. (Again, you might get something out of them with Google Translate but it will mostly be gibberish when translated that way.)
The WHATM threads are for reports (and maybe for corrections or additions to reports posted earlier), not for discussion. This thread is for discussion.
Mind you it is all in Norwegian.
Every evening we have a show Little Brother and we were told that the Finnish girl was going to interviewed by Petter on that show. It would be odd not to send them in tonight as where are they going to keep them for a couple of days, and why not send them on Sunday if that was when they were going in. It sounds much more logical to send them in tonight.
Well they didn't get any reasonable explanations. They were just asked to pack their bags and put them in that room. Big Brother in Norway are very secretive so the contestants speculate alot, especially when they get messages like this.
Today they are all just very tired and sick from yesterday (they stayed up till 4-5 and drank alot). Now they got a mission to sing two songs in the confessionroom, probably just to keep them occupied. They are basically just waiting for something to happen.
The girls must take a shower, wash their hair and bodies. They are not allowed to use any makeup or hair modelling products. They have 30 minutes to complete this task. They suspect that a hairdresser is coming to house.twittgoo kirjoitti:what did annica just read from that letter
